Amy Poehler was born at her hometown in Newton, Massachusetts (MA), United State of America (U.S.A.), and grew up in Burlington, Massachusetts (MA), United State of America (U.S.A.), the daughter of Eileen and Bill Poehler, both teachers. A 1993 graduate of Boston College, Amy Poehler was a member of America’s oldest collegiate improvisation comedy troupe, My Mother’s Fleabag. Amy Poehler’s college room mate was future improv veteran and MTV host, Kara McNamara. After graduating from college, Amy Poehler moved to Chicago, United State of America (U.S.A.), where Amy Poehler studied improv at Second City alongside friend and future co-star Tina Fey. Amy Poehler also studied with Del Close at ImprovOlympic, going on to become part of the touring company as well as teaching classes at iO.
Amy Poehler was a cast member on the NBC television entertainment show Saturday Night Live from 2001 until 2008. Amy Poehler on 2004 starred in the film Mean Girls alongside Tina Fey, with whom Amy Poehler worked again in Baby Mama on 2008. Amy Poehler is currently the lead star of an NBC show titled Parks and Recreation. Amy Poehler has been nominated twice for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Amy Poehler’s performance on Saturday Night Live.
